## Summary

Purple Wires is a feature that allows you to import wire services, such as DPA and Reuters, in Purple Hub. 

The **import supports** the data formats 

- XML,
- RSS,
- JSON, 
- and it's possible to specify the import mapping schema.

As an **authentication method**, it's possible 

- to write a custom service according to your needs,
- or just pass simple Auth data.

**Further configurations** allow to

- automatically publish imported articles,
- assign imported articles to specific (custom) post types, and
- automatically fetch articles on a schedule.

## Preconditions

- **Purple Wires needs to be enabled and set up by the Purple Team**. To request the activation of the feature, please [open a ticket in our Purple Support Helpdesk.](https://sprylab.freshdesk.com/en/support/tickets/new) Within the the ticket, please let us know, which RSS sources you are aiming to include.
- To configure Purple Wires, the role of a Super Admin is needed (a role for Purple staff only)

## Wires Sidebar

The Wires sidebar allows editors to insert wire articles directly into their current post.

### Accessing the Sidebar

1. Open a post in the Gutenberg editor
2. Click the **+** block inserter button
3. Switch to the **Wires** tab

### Filtering Options

- **Source**: Filter by wire source (e.g., Reuters, DPA)
- **Author**: Filter by article author
- **Time**: Show wires from last 24h, 48h, or 72h (default: 24h)

### Inserting a Wire

To insert a wire:

1. Browse or search for the desired wire article
2. Click the **+** button on the article card
3. Confirm by clicking **Continue** in the dialog

### Article Card Information

Each wire article card displays:

| Title  | Article headline  |
| Source | Wire service name |
| Author | Original author   |
| Words  | Word count        |
| Date   | Creation date     |
