Action URLs and Deep linking

Purple Experience

Summary

Some features/behaviours of your Purple App can be explicitly controlled and triggered using Action URLs.

These action URLs can be used in many different places. They can either be triggered from within your Purple App (e.g. from the app menu, within an HTML file or within your storefront) or pushed into your app from outside (e.g. via push or in-app messages).

Difference of meaning: Action URL vs. Deep link

For further consideration, there is a distinction between

  • Action URL
  • Deep link

In essence, both terms describe an action URL. We use the term action URL when it is triggered from within the app, and deep link when it is used from outside the app to trigger a feature/behaviour within the app. However, a deep link into an app is typically a link to the content of the app, i.e. an article or an issue.

How to proceed from here?

Internal usage as action URL

A list of all action URLs supported by a Purple App can be found in the article List of Action URLs overview.

External usage of action URLs as deep link

For a description of how to use action URLs as deep links, and how to modify an action URL to do so, see the article Deep linking
