Character Limits in Purple Hub
Purple Hub
The Character Limit feature allows you to restrict the number of characters that can be entered within a single text field in a Purple Hub post.
Currently, this feature can be enabled and set for excerpts (and partially for Advanced Custom Field Groups, also known as ACFs). Plans are underway to extend this functionality to other text types in the future.
To adapt the settings, you will have to navigate with an 'Admin' account in Purple Hub to 'Settings' --> 'Purple DS HUB':
After entering your desired value (minimum and/or maximum) into the entry fields, you will have to scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Save settings'.
The chosen limitations will now be visible for all users within the editor, right below the excerpt text box:
If you enter too few or too many characters, a warning will appear and you won't be able to save your post. You won't be able to save or publish the post until you've adjusted the length.
For the Excerpt field there is a warning displayed when the conditions aren't met, but it's still possible to fill in more than the allowed value.
Character limit settings are also available for ACF (Advanced Custom Field) Field Groups, within the 'validation' setting, either when editing an existing field group or creating a new one. For ACFs, you can only define a maximum limit, not a minimum one.
As soon as the character Limit is set for ACFs, it is not possible to enter more characters than configured as limit in the defined field.
You can see how to create these ACF Field Groups here.
