Define the size for the Cropping Feature

6min

Purple Hub

Summary

This guide will describe how to configure the crop feature to control the size and focus of images in your Media library in Purple Hub. You will learn how to manage the Preview of the images you want to crop and display in your Media library, ensuring that only the necessary parts of the image are displayed at different sizes.

When no preview sizes are configured, it is not possible to use the cropping functionality in the Media Library. If you wish to disable the functionality later on, the preview sizes can be removed without any data getting lost.

Preconditions

  • Have an Admin role in Purple Hub to define the sizes of the Preview images

Description

Define the size for the Cropping Feature

Go to Purple Hub -> Settings -> Image cropping settings

This setting allows you to configure different image sizes for preview formats and make adjustments. These previews will later appear next to the image details page in your library, giving you an idea of how the image will look when cropped.

  1. Add a new preview size: You can add a new size in which to preview your image. Enter the dimensions in the appropriate fields - for example, a size called Large, 800 pixels wide by 400 pixels high. Click Add to confirm the new size.
  2. Delete the preview size: Once created and saved, a trash can icon will appear next to the configured size, allowing you to delete the configured preview size.
  3. Save the settings: Once you've added the new image size or made any changes, save the settings by clicking the Save button

The configured sizes don't get published when a post gets published. Instead, they only serve as a preview how the image would look like if the post is displayed in this format and the focal point in a Frontend.
