App rating settings in Purple Manager explained

9min

Purple Manager

Introduction

The app rating is an optional Purple Manager feature that generates an aggregated rating of your app for display in the App Store and Google Play Store. Once enabled, your users will see a popup asking for feedback in the form of a star rating. You must set two parameters for making the dialog visible to your users in your app:

  • Days (duration after installation)
  • Sessions (number of sessions triggered by the user)

These two parameters can be set twice so that the rating window appears at the very first start and then, at a later point in time (to review the rating, for example).

Description

In Purple Manager, you find the App Rating Dialog settings in the App Design/General/Advanced Settings section of your app.

There, you can activate the function with the checkbox (01.) and configure the additional settings (02.-05.).

Specification

There are two, inter-related triggers for displaying the evaluation dialogue: Days and Sessions. According to Apple/Google, app reviews may only be displayed twice a year.

02. Show app rating dialogue after a certain amount of days

This option defines the number of days after the initial installation the dialogue pops up for users for the first time.

03. Show app rating dialogue again after a certain amount of days

This option defines the number of days after the dialogue appears to users for the first time for the dialogue to appear for the second time for users.

04. Show app rating dialogue after a certain amount of sessions

This option defines the number of sessions after the installation where the dialogue is displayed to users for the first time.

05. Show app rating dialogue again after a certain amount of sessions

This option defines the number of sessions after the dialogue is displayed for the first time that the dialogue is displayed again for users, for the second time.

Example

First display

02. Show app rating dialogue after a certain amount of days: 1 day

04. Show app rating dialogue after a certain amount of sessions: 5 sessions

Second display

03. Show app rating dialogue again after a certain amount of days: 50 days

05. Show app rating dialogue again after a certain amount of sessions: 100 sessions

Result

So the first time the app rating dialogue is displayed either after one day of the first installation OR after the app has been opened five times.

The second time the rating dialogue is now displayed after 50 days of the first display of the dialogue OR after the app has been opened another 100 times.

Read the how-to guide to learn how to enable/or change the app rating dialogue in the Purple Manager.
