Purple Apps and Websites have a text-to-speech (TTS) service, a feature that reads aloud the content displayed to the user. The service works for Purple App and Web and can consume all types of data, such as posts (e.g., articles) and issues (e.g., from an e-pub).

Purple Editorial supports two providers for creating the necessary audio files: Amazon Polly and BotTalk. Depending on the specific needs of your newsroom, you can, for example, configure a voice of your choice or adjust the sample rate of the files.

TTS with Amazon Polly offers different languages and voices per spoken language. TTS with Amazon Polly can be configured in two ways, depending on your setup:

BotTalk is a third-party integration for the generation of Text-to-speech. A full-text RSS feed can be generated in Purple RSS, and this can be deposited with BotTalk. 

The Purple Hub comes with a standard selection of content blocks on which the TTS is applied for your articles. This allows you to avoid, for example, the text in a button being read out loud and only lets TTS read the article content. This task is typically done once during the initial setup of your TTS.
